MAYHEM! Watch Aaron Rai make the second hole-in-one on No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass
England's Aaron Rai made a hole-in-one at the famed 17th at TPC Sawgrass during the third round of the 2023 Players Championship on the PGA Tour.
As we know, the famed par-3 17th at TPC Sawgrass can be the stuff of nightmares during The Players Championship.
Fortunately for England's Aaron Rai, he will forever look back on the hole that strikes fear into the heart of everyone who plays it with fond memories.
That is because Rai made the second ace of the week at this year's Players. Hayden Buckley got the first early on Thursday morning.
And what a moment this was. The club of choice? A gap wedge. Rai sent a towering shot over the pin from 122 yards.
Once it landed, it took three hops before spinning back into the hole. Rai slowly raised his right hand as it came back down the hill.
When it finally went in, it was absolute mayhem. The crowd went wild. And Rai high-fived the majority of those watching.
Rai got a bear hug from his caddie. "He'll be shaking like a leaf when he goes to get the ball," said Ewen Murray on the Sky Sports commentary.
The ace vaulted Rai, 28, into contention at 8-under, which at the time was only four back of Scottie Scheffler and Min Woo Lee.
This was also Rai's first ever career ace. He was definitely feeling it, as at the very next hole he almost holed out for eagle at No. 18.
He made the putt. Of course he did. A 1-3 finish. Incredible stuff.
