McIlroy was just walking off the iconic Par-3 Island Green 17th when he was met by an enthusiastic fan asking for his autograph.
The boy took off his cap and passed it to McIlroy, before telling him he was going to do a backflip.
"Yes, yes, let's see," said McIlroy.
The boy flipped and McIlroy said "wow".
He then told McIlroy it was his turn.
Cue nervous laughter.
"Yeah, yeah," said McIlroy.
The boy then got McIlroy to sign his shirt.
McIlroy walked off and the boy said "thank you, good luck, I'm rooting for you."
The PGA Tour also showed us footage of a young boy taking in every moment of his first Players experience, aided by his favourite plastic golf club.

"Oh no, he went down to the water," the little lad says as he watches the action with his Dad on the 17th hole.
"He's gonna hit some more balls," he adds.
"He gonna hit it in the hole?"
"Oops, he hit it too hard!"
"Okay, time to go home. Let's go to the next hole. Bye, golf."
