'Is that actually him?!' Golf fans in shock after seeing PGA Tour pro's radical new hairstyle

PGA Tour fans have been left in a state of shock after seeing Garrick Higgo's radical new look at the Corales Puntacana Championship. 

Higgo, 25, burst on the PGA Tour scene when he won the Palmetto Championship in June 2021.

That came shortly after the left-handed South African had racked up three victories in short span on the DP World Tour. 

But despite racing out the blocks as a Tour pro, things have eased down big time for Higgo in recent times.

Once ranked 38th in the world four years ago, Higgo looks on from the 262nd rung of the world ladder.

Higgo lost his PGA Tour card last season and now has limited starts on the circuit as he looks to battle his way back full time on the Korn Ferry Tour.

But Higgo has been afforded a start on the $4m Corales Puntacana Championship this week, and he's not let himself down at least thru 36 holes in the Dominican Republic. 

The Corales Puntcana Championship is sitting alongside the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage, a limited-field $20m Signature Event on the schedule. 

It's a co-sanctioned event on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. 

While the winner at the RBC is playing for a first prize of $3.6m, the champion of the Corales Puntacana will walk away with $720k. 

As it stands thru two rounds at the Puntacana Resort Club, Higgo has posted impressive rounds of 64 and 68 to lie T2 heading into the weekend.

Higgo is four shots behind runaway leader Joel Dahman, who is seeking a second career win on the PGA Tour and his second in this event having won it in 2021. 

While it's something of a surprise to see Higgo in contention for a PGA Tour event this season, it's an even bigger surprise to see his new hairstyle.

It's fair to say Higgo used to look dramatically different when he was last in contention on the PGA Tour.

Higgo, who used to rock a skin fade, has significantly grown out his hair.

After his second round, an almost unrecognisable Higgo admitted he's got lazy with his hair because he can't be bothered to visit the barbers. 

"I hate going to the barber shop and it grows really quick." said Higgo.

"It's been amazing, I can just let it flow."

Higgo will certainly be hoping his golf game continues to flow too. 

He finished T3 on the Korn Ferry Tour his last start, and so far he has brought the good form onto the PGA Tour this week.

A win this Sunday would get Higgo's pro career right back on track, and give him a few quid to get a haircut in the process.
