It's fair to say Justin Thomas has not had his best stuff at the 2023 Players Championship

Two-time major champion Thomas just about made it into the weekend at TPC Sawgrass by one stroke.

He started the week in sublime fashion by holing out for eagle on his second hole of the tournament. Jordan Spieth even called it before it dropped.

But from there it's been somewhat of a struggle for the 29-year-old. We also witnessed one of the worst shots we've ever seen from him this week.

That came on the par-4 fourth hole during his opening round. Thomas piped his drive down the centre but pushed his approach with a wedge way right.

From there, he somehow chipped his ball into the water. Just bizarre stuff from one of the PGA Tour's best players around the greens.

"I never thought I'd see Justin Thomas do something like that," Paul Azinger remarked on the broadcast.

Thomas began his third round on the back nine on Saturday. By the time he reached the famed 17th, he was level par for the championship.

He stuck an incredible tee shot inside five feet then missed his short putt. Cue anger. He lobbed his golf ball into the water.

Sometimes golf balls just need to die.

At the very next hole, he found the fairway at No. 18. From 146 yards, Thomas sent a towering approach to the right side of the green.

This thing had so much spin on it and it also got a favourable bounce left.

Thomas went on to make par at No. 1 on his back nine and then made birdie at No. 2 to move to 3-under for the championship.
