Golf fan takes it on the KNEE to ensure Jordan Spieth avoids water and makes cut
Jordan Spieth makes eagle on his final hole to make the cut at The Players Championship, but he had a golf fan to thank for the assist.
Jordan Spieth received the break of all breaks on his final hole of the day in round two of The Players Championship as a golf fan got in the way of his ball to ensure he made it into the weekend.
When Spieth boarded the par-5 9th, his last hole of the second round, he was one shot over the cut mark at the time on 1-over par.
Spieth thrashed away at his drive and his ball was fading straight into the drink down the right flank.
As his ball continued to curl towards the water, Spieth turned towards his caddie and said: "Is that out of play?"
But Spieth's ball incredibly clattered into the knee of a golf fan and rebounded back into the middle of the fairway.
Spieth went over to the fan to gave him a signed glove following the fortunate break.
From there, Spieth did Spieth-like things as he chipped in for an eagle-three to move to level par for 36 holes and still in the hunt for a first Players title.
It all added up to a disappointing 3-over 75, but he did at least make the halfway cut.
Spieth would later tell the media that he will give the fan "literally whatever he wants this weekend."
