PGA Tour fans are deliberating whether Billy Horschel was joking or not when he said TGL producer Jeff Neubarth urged the teams to "keep it close" during the third match of the season on Tuesday night.

Horschel was representing Atlanta Drive GC, which also comprised Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas.

They faced New York GC, which consisted of Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young.

After Atlanta Drive GC moved 2-0 up thru nine holes of TGL triples action, the coverage paused for a short break.

During that period the six players all went back stage to have a quick freshen up and hit a few practice balls on simulators.

Horschel was then interviewed by ESPN's Marty Smith.

It was during that quick one-minute interview with the two-time BMW PGA champion that golf fans raised eyebrows.

"Obviously the last two weeks have been blow outs and this one isn't," said Horschel, in the knowledge his team were 2-0 up with six holes of singles action left.

"Jeff, the producer, has asked us nicely to keep it close and we're trying to accomodate him."

As Horschel alludes to, the first two matches of TGL had been big blow outs.

The Bay GC beat New York GC 9-2 in Week 1 and Los Angeles GC then thrashed Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links GC 12-1.

Some fans had commented during both of those matches that they turned off since the matches were over after the triples.

Atlanta Drive GC went on to win two more points in the singles matches as they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

It was the lowest scoreline of TGL so far and also the first blow out.

Interestingly enough the Week 3 match between Atlanta and New York was the first of the TGL season where 'The Hammer' was not used.

When 'The Hammer' is used it doubles points on a hole.

The defeat for New York GC marked their second straight loss on TGL giving them plenty of work to do to make the Playoffs.

"Yikes," wrote one TGL fan after hearing Horschel's comment about the producer.

"I do hope Horschel is joking here?!" wrote another.

Another PGA Tour fan commented: "Sorry wait, WTAF?!"

"Can we feel good about betting on this?" tweeted another TGL fan.

"So is it an entertainment program like WWE or an athletic competition like an actual sporting event?" wrote one.

Another wrote: "This is a horrible look for TGL. You need to let it play out the way it plays out."

"Crikey this is awful if true," said another.
