PGA Tour superstar signs one-match contract (!) with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL has handed six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau a one-month contract on their indoor tech-infused golf league.
PGA Tour superstar Tony Finau has accepted a one-match contract on Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL.
Finau, 35, will represent Los Angeles Golf Club when they battle New York Golf Club in Florida's SoFi Center on Monday 24 February.
LA GC will comprise of Finau, Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala on Monday night.
The team also comprises Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose.
Finau was a surprise omission from the 24 PGA Tour players that initially put their name down for TGL.
Runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler was of course the biggest absentee.
Scheffler and Finau reportedly considered they could not fit TGL into their busy PGA Tour schedule.
Finau was also heavily linked with a move away to LIV Golf at the end of the 2024 season.
The six-time PGA Tour winner eventually poured cold water on that rumour.
But Finau will compete in one match and one match only on TGL this season on 24 February.
It marks the first instance in TGL history of a player competing without being officially on a team’s roster.

McIlroy's Boston Common GC will also be in action on Monday 24 February.
The Northern Irishman's side will take on Atlanta Drive GC.
Woods' Jupiter Links GC will compete on Tuesday night against league leaders, The Bay GC.
As it stands The Bay GC are leading the TGL race on 6 points.
LA GC are tucked in behind with 5 points, one point clear of Atlanta Drive.
