Report: LIV Golf to hand debut to new player in Korea
According to a report, LIV Golf are reportedly going to hand home favourite Minkyu Kim a spot in the 54-man field ahead of their stop in Korea.
LIV Golf are reportedly set to welcome a fresh face to their league at their stop in Korea.
The breakaway tour heads to Jack Nicklaus Golf Club this week for their seventh event of the 2025 campaign.
LIV have a roster of reserve players at their disposal to fill in should a golfer get injured.
This year American duo John Catlin and former PGA Tour prodigy Ollie Schniederjans are travelling with the circuit as reserves.
Their expenses are covered but they do not share team prize money.
Catlin almost earned a full-time spot with the league last year but was pipped in the International Series' rankings by the in-form Joaquin Niemann.
Schniederjans got himself into a playoff at LIV's version of Q-School but was defeated by Max Lee.
However, both players won't be filling in for the injured Ben Campbell this week, according to bunkered.
The publication claim that 24-year-old Minkyu Kim - who holds membership on the DP World Tour - will link up with Bubba Watson's team for one-week only.
Joaquin Niemann leads the way in LIV Golf
LIV are almost at the halfway stage of their 2025 season.
Chile's Niemann is currently top of the standings after winning his third LIV event of the year in Mexico.
Niemann's win - his third in six weeks - also earned him a spot in the U.S. Open field courtesy of a USGA exemption for being the leading LIV player as of 19 May.
It means he no longer has to participate in the brutal 36-hole qualifier which is known as 'Golf's Longest Day'.
"My team was asking me to sign up for the qualifier and the sectional, and I wasn't really into that," Niemann said after his win.
"So more than anything I'm grateful that I'm not playing 36 holes on a Monday after a tournament. Yeah, I'm pretty happy."
Niemann has become the 10th LIV Golf player to join the U.S. Open field at Oakmont.
In the LIV standings, Niemann leads Jon Rahm by 30.3 points. Sergio Garcia is third.
