Woods will be making his first start since slipping on his fifth green jacket at The Masters last month.
The 15-time major champion is now just three major wins away from 18-time record holder Jack Nicklaus, and just one Tour win away from matching Sam Snead's haul of 82 victories.
Woods won the 2002 US Open at Bethpage Black when beating Phil Mickelson by three strokes. That year, Woods also won The Masters.
