John Daly to use golf cart at US PGA, worried about fan reaction...
Daly to become first player to use a golf cart at a major since Casey Martin at the 2012 US Open.
John Daly has been granted permission to use a golf cart at the US PGA Championship at Bethpage Black next week due to arthritis in his right knee.
Daly, 53, has explained to officials that his condition prevents him from walking more than six holes at a time.
As a result, Daly filed his request under the Americans with Disabilities Act and will become the first player since Casey Martin at the 2012 US Open to use a golf cart in a major tournament.
The 1991 US PGA champion, however, is worried what golf fans are going to think of him.
“I hope I don’t get a lot of grief from the fans,” Daly told the Associated Press. “My knee is screwed. I had the meniscus cut out. I have osteoarthritis so bad … I can walk up a hill, I just can’t walk down one.”
Daly last year vowed to never play another USGA tournament after he was denied his request of a golf cart at the 2018 US Senior Open.
The man nicknamed as 'The Wild Thing' was forced to withdraw from last week's Regions Tradition senior major after suffering dizzy spells.
