Rory McIlroy asks homeowner playing music to "cut it off" before shot at US Open
Rory McIlroy had to deal with a disturbance during his round Saturday at the US Open.
Rory McIlroy was apparently forced to ask a homeowner to cut his music off during the third round of the US Open on Saturday.
McIlroy, 34, is currently in the midst of a nearly decade-long search for his fifth major title.
While he's had many close calls since his last, the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla, this year's US Open appears to be one of his best chances at sealing the deal.
The Northern Irishman has been in contention all week long at the Los Angeles Country Club with rounds of 65, 67, and 69 heading into Sunday's final round.
With a tournament total of 9-under par, he's one stroke back of leaders Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark.
And while McIlroy shot a steady 1-under par 69 on Saturday, it wasn't exactly smooth-sailing the whole way through.
According to a tweet from Paolo Uggetti, a staff writer at ESPN, a house near the fairway of the 5th hole was blasting house music while Xander Schauffele was preparing for his shot.
McIlroy was apparently trying to get the homeowners to "cut it off" before Schauffele took his swing.

In defense of the homeowner(s), Barstool Sports' Dan Rapaport pointed out that it's always possible they weren't aware that a major championship was being played.
Odds they were aware that a major championship was being played just outside their backyard? https://t.co/HuPWo3D3U3

Schauffele opened the tournament with a record-low 62 that was also shot by Fowler on Thursday.
However, he followed it up with rounds of 70 and 73 to fall back into a tie for sixth at 5-under par after 54 holes.
Hopefully, he won't encounter any more music during Sunday's final round.
