Scottie Scheffler loses his rag at PGA Tour event
Reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler lost his temper during the third round of the WM Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour.
Runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler briefly lost his temper during the third round of the WM Phoenix Open.
The PGA Tour star was having an average day by his standards at TPC Scottsdale.
By the time he reached the par-5 15th he was 2-under for the day, courtesy of three birdies and one bogey.
Scheffler looked as though he was going to have a strong finish after making back-to-back birdies at the 13th and 14th that included draining a putt from 28ft.
Then he had a bit of a disaster.
Scheffler flared his tee shot out right on No. 15 but still decided to give the green a crack from 248 yards despite having to carry water to reach the putting surface.
His second found a watery grave and, from there, Scheffler inexplicably missed the green from 89 yards after taking a drop.
Then Scheffler decided to take his anger out on his TaylorMade bag.

Scheffler trudged off the green with a bogey and, at the very next hole, got a few jeers at the stadium hole after hitting his tee shot to 21ft.
Some X users pointed out that it was a rare outburst of anger from the reigning Masters champion but there have been several occasions where he has lost his cool temporarily.
At the height of his putting woes in early 2024, video footage showed Scheffler lobbing his golf ball into the trees after missing a birdie putt at the Genesis Invitational.
He also got a bit angry during the 2024 BMW Championship, repeatedly asking how his golf ball didn't spin after a short approach and dropping an F-bomb.
During the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills, Scheffler was also was left seething after finding the water at the 18th hole.
