PGA Tour star Max Homa has become the latest player to withdraw from the Farmers Insurance Open

Homa opened his second Tour event of the season with a disastrous triple bogey from the fairway and in truth things never really got better.

Despite holing out for eagle at the par-5 6th in round one, Homa laboured to an opening round of 5-over 77.

It represented his second-worst score in 25 rounds at the Farmers.

The champion of this event in 2023 withdrew with three holes to play on the North Course on Thursday after heavy winds forced officials to briefly suspend play.

At that point Homa stood at 4-over par for his round and 9-over for the tournament.

The projected cut was 1-over.

Homa played in the tournament without his regular caddie, Joe Greiner.

In a pre-tournament interview, the golfer did not reveal why Greiner is unavailable at present but he hopes they will be reunited in a few weeks' time.

Homa had NBC commentator and former Tour caddie John Wood step in.

The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open had several withdrawals before and during the tournament.

Xander Schauffele was expected to headline but pulled out, citing a rib injury

Collin Morikawa also decided not to play and is yet to confirm why his name was pulled from the field.

Akshay Bhatia, Harry Hall, Nicolai Hojgaard, Mackenzie Hughes, Will Zalatoris and Gary Woodland also withdrew.

Braden Thornberry, Nate Lashley, Hayden Buckley and Emiliano Grilo also joined Homa in withdrawing before completing their second rounds.
