PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg has become the latest player to voice his support for Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational being staged at Torrey Pines.

No official decision has been made but it is understood the 2025 edition of the tournament, held annually at Riviera Country Club, will be played in San Diego.

The PGA Tour has been forced to move the location due to the serious wildfires that have plagued Los Angeles in recent weeks.

Riviera was not damaged but the course was closed owing to the considerable damage in the surrounding area.

If the decision is made to take the $20m signature event to San Diego, it would mean the Tour would visit Torrey Pines twice in six weeks.

The Farmers Insurance Open is being played this week and the Genesis Invitational will take place over 13-16 February.

Asked if Aberg would be a fan of the decision, the Swede said: "No pushback from me. Bring it here please."

Former World No.1 Jason Day also threw his support behind the idea.

"I love it," Day said. "I've had good memories here.

"Obviously Tiger's had a huge amount of success here, it's not that far from L.A., it's just down the road, the infrastructure's here already.

"It just depends on if the city wants to hold it and what that would look like.

"Then that is obviously one way of getting the players to come back to San Diego is [if you] have a signature event in your backyard, which would be nice."

He added: "Even though we're talking about another tournament coming to San Diego, which is a great thing for San Diego, there's a lot of people that are out of a home that typically we come in and everything's normal.

"Right now there's a lot of people that are struggling, so we can't forget about that, too."

Other venues reportedly being considered are PGA West near Palm Springs and TPC Scottsdale, which hosts the WM Phoenix Open.

Although Woods has not yet committed to the Genesis Invitational, there is a chance he could play.

He has already made his debut in TGL and didn't appear to be struggling too much during his annual appearance at the PNC Championship in December alongside his teenage son Charlie

Woods had another back surgery last September - the sixth of his career - and walked all 36 holes with his son at the hit-and-giggle event.

It has to be noted that the course is extremely flat, though.

The Genesis will be the third signature event of eight in 2025.

Hideki Matsuyama won the first, The Sentry, at the beginning of January.

Next week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am also has a bumper prize purse.
