LIV Golf's final regular season event of the season takes place in Chicago this week. 

Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann will battle out for individual season honours at Bolingbrook Golf Club.

The season then concludes with the Team Championship in Dallas next week

The DP World Tour dropped a bombshell update on Rahm's Ryder Cup status earlier today. 

Smith: "I'm not sure what planet Jon Rahm is on right now, but it's clearly not Earth"

There had been some doubt as to whether Rahm would keep his DP World Tour membership as he was not officially down to play in four regular season events to maintain his card. 

All European Ryder Cup players must be members of the DP World Tour. 

But the DP World Tour confirmed to bunkered earlier today that Rahm has chosen at the last second of a deadline to appeal his DP World Tour fines - just as Tyrrell Hatton has chosen - and he will therefore be able to keep his 2025 Ryder Cup bid alive. 

At least until their appeals have been processed. It is understood an outcome will not be reached until the end of the year at the earliest. 

Rahm's decision to lodge an appeal over his fines in light of his move to LIV Golf at the end of 2023 means he is eligible to compete in the Spanish Open at the end of the month.

The Spaniard has also confirmed he will tee it up in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and Andalucia Masters next month.
