Joaquin Niemann told by Tour pro: "You can't remain with LIV Golf for much longer"
Eddie Pepperell says Joaquin Niemann cannot remain in LIV Golf for a great deal longer if the Chilean wants to get the best out of his career.
English Tour pro Eddie Pepperell says in-form LIV Golf player Joaquin Niemann cannot remain with the breakaway tour for 'a great deal longer' if he wants to get the best out of his career.
Niemann was among the first wave of players to be recruited for the PIF-backed league in 2022.
The Chilean had just begun to make a name for himself on the PGA Tour when Greg Norman came calling.
Niemann owned Riviera Country Club in February 2022 to clinch the biggest win of his career at the Genesis Invitational but by August he was officially unveiled as a LIV signing.
The 26-year-old has since established himself as a dominant force in the LIV Golf League by winning five titles.
His victory last week in Mexico was his third of the season and also secured his spot in the U.S. Open field at Oakmont.
Niemann's performances led Phil Mickelson to claim that he believed the Chilean was currently the best player in the world.
But Pepperell believes in order for Niemann to live up to his potential he must consider life away from LIV to get the best out of his career.
"The only time I have really seen him play golf recently was at Augusta where he featured a little bit and fell away," Pepperell told the most recent edition of The Chipping Forecast.
"And he looked so at ease winning in Mexico there on the LIV tour. And I was struck by - again - just going back to Phil's comments that he made a few weeks ago where he described Joaquin Niemann as the best player in the world.
"Now, Joaquin Niemann I think does have the potential to be one of if not the best player in the world.
"But as long as he is on LIV, it is simply not going to happen. Because when you put him in an environment that clearly he was in at Augusta where there is pressure and he's uncomfortable he is not able to do what he is doing on LIV.
"And I know I lambast LIV often, but I just cannot -- he must surely know this. He cannot remain on LIV for a great deal longer if he wants to get the best out of his career because he is such a good player."
Pepperrell added: "He needs to be playing against the best on the PGA Tour."
Niemann finished 29th at Augusta National earlier in the month.
Former green jacket winner Patrick Reed was the best-performing LIV player at Augusta with his third place finish.
Bryson DeChambeau finished in the top-10 whilst Bubba Watson, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton shared 14th.
Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Sergio Garcia, Charl Schwartzel and Mickelson were among those to miss the cut.
Niemann is back in action this week with LIV in Korea.
