Here's how Bryson DeChambeau is splashing some of his LIV Golf cash
Bryson DeChambeau appears to have invested a significant amount of his LIV Golf money into building a direct competitor to Topgolf.
Bryson DeChambeau has plenty of money these days since he signed up to the lucrative LIV Golf League.
The 2020 U.S. Open champion has never revealed how much his initial fee was, only confirming in previous interviews he signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Saudi-backed tour.
It is thought he was paid in excess of $100m. That's not an unreasonable guess, given Brooks Koepka recently confirmed he was paid north of that astronomical figure.
Why we are talking about this is it appears DeChambeau has invested a significant sum into building a new driving range called UnderPar Life.
D Magazine has reported the first location will be at Hawks Creek Golf Course just outside of Fort Worth, Texas.
The golfer told the magazine: "Expense is a barrier to most things in life.
"It is an unusually high barrier to experience the joy of golf. UnderPar Life at Hawks Creek is the first of many locations designed to redefine access to golf by reducing cost barriers.
"Our initiatives are geared toward making golf more affordable, approachable, and enjoyable for everyone. Our approach, partnering with municipally owned golf courses, removes significant financial obstacles and allows us to grow the community of golfers."
The facility will reportedly be a two-storey, 16,000-square foot venue with 42 hitting bays for the 500-yard driving range.
In addition, there will be a 'tour level' practice area, three bars plus a kitchen led by a celebrity chef Christian Lehrmann.
There will also be a fitness centre and an instructional academy.
D Magazine reported that construction of the project will begin before the end of the year and will take approximately 12-18 months to complete.
They are planning to open 30 locations across the nation.
