'What are we doing here...' golf fans react as YouTube star invited to play on PGA Tour
YouTube golf superstar Grant Horvat has been invited to play in a PGA Tour event this season, and everyone is seemingly divided about it.

YouTube golf sensation Grant Horvat has confirmed he has been invited to compete in the Barracuda Championship (Reno-Tahoe Open) on the PGA Tour this July.
Horvat, 26, is a talented American golfer, YouTube personality and entrepreneur.
From college golf standout to one of YouTube’s top golf creators, Horvat is now helping redefine how our game is played, watched and enjoyed.

Horvat has competed in eight Minor League Golf Tour events since 2020 with his best finish tied for sixth at the Osprey Point May Classic in 2023.
He has just $440 in career earnings on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Horvat's net worth in 2025, however, is now estimated to be just shy of $1m.
Who is Grant Horvat?
Born on August 24, 1998, in Detroit, Michigan, Horvat began playing golf at the age of 12 after relocating to Florida.
Horvat played collegiate golf at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he stood out both athletically and academically.
He gained prominence through his YouTube channel, Grant Horvat Golf, which as of April 2025 has surpassed 1.15m subscribers and over 175m views.
Horvat's YouTube content blends golf instruction, challenge videos and collaborations with fellow creator and PGA Tour and LIV Golf League stars.

Known for his silky smooth swing, technical knowledge and laidback style to the game, Horvat has earned a loyal following among both new and seasoned golf fans.
In March 2025, Horvat won the PGA Tour's Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass, cementing his status as both a content creator and a competitive player.
Shortly after, he partnered with LIV Golf to co-create The Duels, a high-stakes, nine-hole scramble event at Trump National Doral in Miami.
Featuring a $250,000 prize, the event paired professional golfers with content creators—Grant teamed up with Phil Mickelson, while other teams included Sergio Garcia with George Bryan and Bubba Watson with Luke Kwon.
The event was streamed exclusively on his channel, marking a significant moment in golf’s crossover with digital media.
Garcia and Bryan were crowned champions of The Duels: Miami 2025.
Off the golf course, Horvat is a part-owner and content partner at Takomo Golf and he maintains a sponsorship deal with TaylorMade.
Horvat's entrepreneurial ventures reflect his passion for shaping the future of the sport.
But back to the top of the story, and Horvat's latest big news in having been invited by the PGA Tour compete in one of their tournaments this summer.
Grant Horvat invited to compete in 2025 PGA Tour event
Horvat has been invited by the PGA Tour compete in the Barracuda Championship, a modified Stableford tournament that takes place at Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood Course) from 17-20 July.
But the tall Floridian is unsure at this stage whether to accept the invite into the Californian event.
The tournament falls in the same week as the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland.
The Barracuda Championship is a co-sanctioned event on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
It's also a modified Stableford tournament with the following points system:
- 8 points for an albatross
- 5 points for an eagle
- 2 points for a birdie
- 0 points for a par
- -1 point for a bogey
- -3 points for a double or worse
Horvat took to X / Twitter on 16 April to confirm his latest news about having been invited to play in the 2025 Barracuda Championship this summer.
But he admits he's unsure whether to take up the invite and play in the tournament.
"I got invited to play a PGA Tour event. Truly on the fence, should I play?" tweeted Horvat.
The decision to invite Horvat seems an even more controversial one after news just broke that the PGA Tour has "suspended indefinitely" Wesley Bryan, who also participated in 'The Duels: Miami'.
Bryan is a one-time PGA Tour winner following victory at the 2017 RBC Heritage, an event that takes place this week.
Horvat's latest update has seemingly triggered plenty of golf fans on social media.
Some think Horvat should go for it and jump at the opportunity to play in a PGA Tour / DP World Tour event to further help elevate his career, while others believe he should decline the invite and not take the place of a seasoned Tour pro who deserves the opportunity more than him.

"Nothing to lose my friend," replied fellow YouTube golf star Peter Finch.
Another tweeted: "Why wouldn’t he tee it up? Isn’t that the entire point of working to be great at golf, to play at the highest level. Seems like he’s scared if that’s his response."
One confused PGA Tour fan wrote: "He couldn’t even beat other YouTubers, what are we doing here?"
"Doesn’t deserve it but it’s good publicity for the tournament," tweeted another golf fan.
One PGA Tour fan wrote: "He’s already basically admitted that the reason he never gave turning pro a full go is that he doesn’t have the mental ability to do it. No reason to paint his game in a negative light if he knows that he can’t get it done."
"I’m sure the guys grinding on the Korn Ferry are super pumped about this," tweeted one.
Another commented: "Giving Grant respect for actually debating this. I feel most would get a big head and do this no questions. Respect man."
