Golf fans saw the funny side of Martin Kaymer's latest announcement about his LIV Golf team.

The former World No.1 confirmed on Tuesday that his Cleeks outfit have agreed a 'unique collaboration' with fashion designer Martin Key

Key has produced a 'refined weekend bag' that is handcrafted in Italy 'from the finest bovine leather with a natural milled pebble grain'.

The premium, gold-finished bag, can be yours for just $4,800

Said Kaymer: "At Cleeks Golf Club, we honour the traditions of golf while embracing a modern approach to the game and lifestyle.

"This weekend bag is more than just an accessory; it represents our dedication to quality, heritage, and a refined sense of style that we carry on and off the course.

"It reflects the distinct identity of Cleeks Golf Club, setting us apart from the rest and offering something truly unique."

Some golf fans on X found the collaboration amusing, arguing that the price is just a tad steep.

"The merger might never happen if they manage to sell 12,000 of these," one wrote.

Another added: "Just wait until they sign on to rep the $799 bottle of ketchup."

Referencing Cleeks' Adrian Meronk, this person said: "Now you can travel in style like the Polish prince."

Another comment read: "Coming to a charity raffle near you!"

Here's some more:

"It makes Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red clobber seem affordable."

"Thank god it's cheap."

"Who is paying for that?"

"I'd love to know at what point they thought, 'Yeah, $4,800 seems like a great price point.'"

"Perfect for your average golfer."

"I wouldn't waste $48 on that..."

Cleeks had a full rebrand for the 2025 season.

The team, which also has England's Richard Bland and young Danish pro Frederik Kjettrup on their roster, revealed a new logo.

It features a stylised 'C' position above a 'T', representing both a golf tee and the initials of the team.

The rebranding initiative was led by team general manager Jonas Mårtensson, former CEO of Mojang, the video game developer known for creating Minecraft.
