Golf fans perplexed by video clip of LIV Golf's Peter Uihlein
Peter Uihlien somehow managed to save par from a beach (?!) during the first round of the International Series Oman on the Asian Tour.
Peter Uihlein was one of several LIV Golf players who decided to play this week's Asian Tour event.
We presume the breakaway tour players were in search of some much-needed world ranking points at the International Series Oman.
The topic of whether LIV deserve OWGR points has resurfaced again in recent weeks after Greg Norman and Bryson DeChambeau criticised the current state of affairs.
But back to the topic at hand and Mr Uihlein, who sat tied for third after the close of play on Friday afternoon.
How Uihlein arrived there with a second round score of 66 was truly remarkable. It could've (should've?) been a whole lot worse.
This might just be the only contender for par save of the year.
Uihlein hit his tee shot so far off line he ended up on the beach. But the American didn't bat an eyelid.
He hacked his second back into the fairway. Straightforward par from here, no?! Wrong.
Uihlein then managed to hit his third shot almost as badly as his first, this time chunking his golf ball short and left of the green.
From there he had pretty much no green to work with and his pitch ended up 30 feet past the flag.
At this point, you would have thought the 34-year-old would just lag it up to the hole and accept bogey. Maybe a double.
Nope! He jarred it and his playing partners found it absolutely hilarious. As did Uihlein. Just look at his celebration.
"It was always a par," commented LIV's Bubba Watson on X. "Sure," another user wrote. "Strong Jordan Spieth energy."
We've still got plenty of time to see if this will be bettered for 'par save of the year'.
But surely we have a contender...
