How is Talor Gooch spending $36m of LIV Golf cash? Report: Bull riding
Talor Gooch, who is closing in on $40m in earnings in the LIV Golf League, is spending his cash on bull riding, according to a report.
Talor Gooch may not be in the major championships but there is no denying the LIV Golf player has been compensated considerably despite missing out.
Gooch joined LIV Golf in 2022 and was one of the first players to be banned by the PGA Tour for doing so.
The American has since gone on to have considerable success with the Saudi Arabia-backed breakaway tour.
The 32-year-old was LIV's individual champion for 2023, which netted him a bonus of $18m plus all of the prize money he earned across the season.
He's already earned $2,167,500 this season after two LIV events in Mexico and Las Vegas.
When you add it all up, he's earned more than $36,000,000 on the course with LIV and that is only set to increase.
It begs the question, what do you do with all that money?
According to an in-depth report by The Wall Street Journal, Gooch has turned his attentions to bull riding.
He is now 'the proud owner' of a bull riding outfit.
On 23 February, the Professional Bull Riders league unveiled two new teams. Gooch is the owner of the Oklahoma Wildcatters.
The team has a stable of 12 riders and will compete against nine other teams at PBR events across the country.
Gooch told the publication: "The main goal is how do we take advantage of all of this money that we're able to make now and turn it into more.
"The seed money for these new ventures is directly related to how many birdies I'm able to make right now."
Gooch's major problem...
Gooch won three LIV events last season.
He beat fields that included the likes of Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
At the very least, he thought he should be considered for the 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup side but received no phone call whatsoever.
Gooch was also comfortably inside the top 75 players in the world when he joined LIV.
He has since fallen to his 427th in the OWGR, meaning he has not qualified for any major championships in 2024.
Joaquin Niemann was the only LIV player invited to play the 2024 Masters.
But Niemann's invite to Augusta National was widely seen as recognition that he won the Australian Open.
Gooch was scheduled to compete in last year's U.S. Open but was booted out of the tournament after he lost his bid for a temporary restraining order that would have allowed him to compete in the PGA Tour's postseason.
Tournament officials at the USGA changed their qualifying criteria in a way that was perceived to target Gooch directly.
