Brooks Koepka reaches Graeme McDowell verdict by confirming Smash GC for 2025
Report: Graeme McDowell to remain on Smash GC as Brooks Koepka finalises team for 2025 LIV Golf League season.
Brooks Koepka's Smash GC will remain unchanged for the 2025 LIV Golf League, it has been confirmed by both bunkered and Flushing It.
There had been question marks over whether Graeme McDowell, 45, would remain on Koepka's LIV Golf team next season.
But bunkered.co.uk has today confirmed the Northern Irishman has been invited back onto Smash GC by Koepka for 2025.
"It’s not been announced or anything yet, but my contract is with the lawyers right now," McDowell told bunkered at this week's PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour.
"They’re having a look at it just to make sure. It looks like exactly the same contract as last year. I’ve not put pen to paper yet but I’m about to put pen to paper and I’m obviously excited that Brooks is giving me another opportunity to play for Smash next year.
"I really enjoyed myself this year. It’s a phenomenal team with Talor (Gooch) and Jason (Kokrak). Brooks is the best major player of the last 10 years and he’s a world class guy to be hanging around with."
McDowell was rarely at his best during the 2024 season but he knew he had a good chance of remaining on Koepka's team following a conversation they had during the summer.
"Brooks told me in the middle of the year that I was in decent shape but you just never know," said McDowell, who won the US Open in 2010.
McDowell also spoke to bunkered about a number of other topics, such as the Ryder Cup.

Popular golf social media account, Flushing It, then confirmed Koepka's four-man Smash GC will remain unchaged for the 2025 LIV Golf League season.
Koepka, who is the captain, will once again lead a team that includes McDowell, Talor Gooch and Jason Kokrak.
"Graeme McDowell has a contract extension with Smash GC, and will be playing on the LIV Golf League in 2025," confirmed Flushing It.
"Brooks Koepka’s team will be unchanged for next season.
"I’ve mentioned this a few times now, but don’t expect any major moves to LIV this year."

There had been strong rumours that Tony Finau was heading to LIV Golf next season after pulling out of Tiger Woods' Hero World Challenge on the PGA Tour this week.
But the six-time PGA Tour winner shut down the rumours by confirming he needs more time to recover from an injury before returning to competition.
There are not expected to be too many big names joining LIV Golf for 2025, according to Flushing It.
