ZOZO Championship: Prize purse, payout info and field

The PGA Tour heads overseas for the first time in its new season for the ZOZO Championship in Japan. 

Hideki Matsuyama is the defending champion at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club. 

The 2021 Masters champion won what was then his seventh PGA Tour title when he won by five strokes here over Cameron Tringale, who has now joined the LIV Golf Tour after thanking Tiger Woods.

Speaking of that tour, Matsuyama, 30, took time out this week to re-affirm his commitment to the PGA. 

The Srixon staffer said he "couldn't be prouder" to be a PGA Tour member after taking part in the 2022 Presidents Cup, where the International side lost the U.S. 17.5 to 12.5. 

Matsuyama claimed a cheque for $1,791,000 last October. There has been increase to the prize purse at the 2022 ZOZO Championship, meaning that $11m will be shared across the field. The prize purse was $9.95m last time it was played. 

The winner will take home $1,980,000.00, which is quite a contrast to LIV Golf Jeddah where the winner will receive as much as $4m at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Saudi Arabia.
