"Good people can be stupid" Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy ripped by Tour pro
One Tour pro believes Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have come up with "completely the wrong answer" over the PGA Tour's response to the LIV Golf Tour.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have produced "completely the wrong answer" with the PGA Tour's riposte to LIV Golf, according to one Tour pro.
In a report written by John Huggan of Golf Digest, the player, who wished to remain anonymous, says he supports Woods and McIlroy for getting together and "recognising what an awful idea LIV Golf is".
But he believes that despite having "the moral high ground" the money should be dispersed around the world to create more opportunity.
Apparently, there is enough cash for the elite performers.
This is what the player told Huggan:
"I admire the likes of Rory and company for getting together and recognising what an awful idea the LIV tour is. But they have come up with completely the wrong answer. They have the moral high ground. So why not be about growing the game? Why not be about dispersing money around the world in order to grow the so-called feeder tours? They are making enough money at the top, so what not create opportunity? Instead, they are taking all of the money. It just goes to show that good people trying to do the right thing can still be really stupid. Where does [Keith] Pelley [the DP World Tour chief executive] think giving away the top-10 players on his tour at the end of every year actually leads? It's madness. There has to be something we're not seeing. But I'm not sure what it is."

To catch you up, the PGA Tour have announced sweeping changes to try and prevent their biggest stars from defecting to LIV Golf.
Those changes include:
- Elevated Events with increased prize purses to at least $20m to rival LIV
- A jacked up Player Impact Program, which sees the top 20 players grabbing a share of $100m
- The top players have committed to playing "at least" 20 events together
- The launch of an Earning Assurance Programme and Travel Stipend Programme
Elsewhere, Woods and McIlroy have launched TMRW Sports. Off the back of this announcement, they have confirmed that they will be launching a Monday night golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour. It's called TGL.
