Charles Schwab Challenge 2023: Prize purse, payout info, field

Following the exciting week up in New York at Oak Hill Country Club for the PGA Championship, the PGA Tour returned this week with the Charles Schwab Challenge. 

The tournament is being played at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas and the winner will take home $1.56m. 

With a total purse of $8.7m, the runner-up will still earn $948,300 and third place will receive $600,300. 

This week's tournament is filled with many of the top Texans on the PGA Tour like World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 11 Jordan Spieth.

Scheffler came into the tournament off of a solid finish at the PGA Championship, where he tied for second with Viktor Hovland. They were two strokes back of winner Brooks Koepka. 

Spieth, despite his nagging wrist issues, made the cut last week at the major and is teeing it up again this week in Texas. 

Michael Block, the club professional who stole the show at Oak Hill, received a last-minute invite to the Charles Schwab Challenge and is playing among the stars of the PGA Tour for the second straight week. 

However, he opened the event at Colonial with an 11-over par 81 during the first round. 

Sam Burns, the defending champion, was 3-under in a tie for seventh after 18 holes on Thursday.
