Callaway launches XR OS irons and hybrids

Just days after introducing the exciting new XR 16 driver and fairway woods, Callaway has launched XR OS irons and hybrids for the game-improvement player.

The latest irons and hybrids from Callaway have been designed for golfers seeking maximum forgiveness, ease of launch and added fire power.

Callaway XR OS iron

Callaway is aiming its super game-improvement XR OS iron at players who cannot quite get to grips with the new Apex CF 16 iron, which took gold in our latest player irons test.

The company has made its popular Face Cup technology even faster than before and positioned it into a wider sole design that is easier to hit and more forgiving.

A trailing edge bevel to the iron moves the centre of gravity (CG) lower and further back to increase playability and aid carry distance, while a new urethane material dampens the vibration for improved feel and sound.

"Game improvers represent the widest demographic of golfers but we know one size does not fit all," said Callaway's head of research and development Dr Alan Hocknell.

"With XR OS, we wanted to use the ball speed advantages of our second generation iron Cup Face in a way that helps them gain carry distance through the air."

RRP: £599 (steel), £749 (graphite)
Available: January 22

Callaway XR OS hybrid

The new XR OS hybrids provide the perfect complement to the XR OS irons as they give game-improvement players an "extreme amount of forgiveness and great ball flight trajectories."

Callaway has once again capitalised on its Face Cup technology to generate high ball speeds and maximum distance, on top of greater versatility.

It has also designed the XR OS hybrid in a larger, more appealing head shape for the game improver who is looking to elevate their game.

The XR OS hybrids are available in 3H (19 degrees), 4H (22 degrees), 5H (25 degrees), 6H (28 degrees), 7H (31 degrees).

RRP: £169
Available: January 22
