Brandon Stone: in the bag
South African seals first win after dramatic final day
South African Brandon Stone won his first European Tour event following a roller-coaster final day at the BMW SA Open.
The home favourite fell two strokes behind the leader after posting six bogeys in seven holes, but steadied the ship with four birdies to post a one-under-par 71 to win on 14 under.
The 22-year-old finished two shots ahead of compatriot Christiaan Bezuidenhout, while England’s Daniel Brooks was a shot further behind.
"It's too good to be true. I'm overcome with emotions at the moment. There was a lot of ups and downs in that final round but to come out on top at the end is incredible," said Stone.
"That round was the most up-and-down round that I've ever had in my life,” he told Sky Sports.
"Walking up to the 18th made me think about how the last few years have been up and down and up and down and just to pull it through at the end there, I can't describe it.”
