Shane Lowry risks injury after weather delay at PGA Championship
Shane Lowry risked an injury at Oak Hill Country Club during the weather delay ahead of the PGA Championship.
Shane Lowry nearly risked an injury Thursday during the weather delay ahead of the first round of the PGA Championship.
Lowry, 36, is in Rochester, New York this week for the second major championship of the men's golf season.
He's playing the first two rounds in a group with Viktor Hovland and Jordan Spieth.
The group is in the earlier wave of tee times on Thursday, though it's been moved to nearly two hours later due to the weather conditions in Upstate New York.
The weather in the area dropped quite low overnight, and the course was still covered in too much frost by the time groups were originally scheduled to tee off in the morning.
Lowry appears to have taken full advantage of the delay, though he risked a pre-PGA Championship injury in the process.
The Irishman was seen playing with a hurley and a sliotar, items used in a sport called hurling.
In the video, which you can watch below, Lowry is seen shaking his hand off after possibly swinging a bit too hard.

Lowry is currently a two-time PGA Tour winner, including one major title with his victory at the Open Championship back in 2019.
At last month's Masters Tournament, he finished tied for 16th at 2-under par. His best previous finish at a PGA Championship was a tie for fourth back at the 2021 tournament.
