WATCH: Former champ fails to qualify for U.S. Open after missing tap-in!
Lucas Glover missed out on a chance to extend a playoff with this miss from short range.
Spare a thought for Lucas Glover, who missed out on a spot in the 2023 U.S. Open in a particularly brutal way.
Glover, who won the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black, took part in a 36-hole qualifier at Brookside Golf & Country Club and The Lakes Golf & Country Club in Ohio on Monday.
He opened up with a 73 during the 'Longest Day in Golf' and followed that with a stunning 63, which teed him up nicely for one of the 11 spots up for grabs.

The 48-year-old finished on 8-under, tied with four other players and entered into a playoff to decide who would secure the three remaining spots.
Glover found himself in a spot of bother on the third hole. After finding a greenside trap, he splashed out and left himself this simple putt to stay in the playoff.
Then he missed. A clip was taken and re-shared by Mark Olson, who described the moment perfectly: "Nightmare fuel from Lucas Glover."
Yeah, this wasn't pretty.

Notables who made it through the Ohio qualifier included Davis Thompson, Eric Cole, Luke List, Patrick Rodgers, Stewart Cink and Kevin Streelman.
Glover's 10-year exemption into the major expired in 2019. "I won the worst major, the one you don't get to play for the rest of your life," he later said.
