Scottie Scheffler begins US PGA with utterly bonkers shot! "Hello, dad!"
Scottie Scheffler began his tilt at the 2024 US PGA Championship by holing out for a remarkable eagle at the very first hole at Valhalla Golf Club.
Scottie Scheffler is not human.
The world number one began his tilt at the 2024 US PGA Championship in perhaps the most ridiculous way imaginable by holing out for eagle on his very first hole of the major.
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Scheffler found the fairway with his opening tee shot. His TP5x was nuked 324 yards down the right side of the short stuff.
From there, he had 167 yards to the pin which was on located at the front of the green.
His weapon of choice? A 9-iron. This thing didn't fade or draw. Just dead f---ing straight.
Scheffler's towering iron shot reached an apex of 113 feet and landed approximately one foot from the hole before taking one bounce and dropping into the centre of the cup.
Cue scenes.
Perhaps the only thing better than the shot was the commentary.
"It's a more than decent start, and for Scottie Scheffler at the 1st, it's child's play... good grief!" said Sky Sports Golf lead commentator Ewen Murray.
Scheffler's cool celebration wasn't bad either.
Watch the shot here:
Congrats, Scottie.
Scheffler teed off in the afternoon wave alongside Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.
Earlier in the day, Xander Schauffele set a new US PGA record to take the early lead.
Rory McIlroy got off to a hot start but was later involved in an awkward exchange with a reporter over a question about his private life.
