Lowry cracks up McIlroy and Woods with hilarious Scheffler claim during first TGL match
Shane Lowry was getting a bit carried with himself during the opening night of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's brand new TGL as his team ran out 9-2 victors.
Shane Lowry cracked up Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods on the opening night of their brand new TGL after claiming he was going to become "the new Scottie Scheffler of indoor golf."
Lowry, 37, performed admirably on the opening night of Woods and McIlroy's new tech-infused indoor golf league at the SoFi Center in Florida.
The 2019 Open champion joined his fellow team members Wyndham Clark and Ludvig Aberg on The Bay GC to thrash New York GC's Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick and Rickie Fowler by a comfortable 9-2 scoreline.

After helping The Bay GC surge into a commanding 9-1 lead at the time, Lowry turned to a TGL crew member and said: "I told ya, I'm going to be the Scottie Scheffler of indoor golf."
Runaway World No.1 Scheffler made the decision to not take part in TGL this season despite the indoor league being open for PGA Tour players.
Scheffler, who is based out of Texas, considered competing on TGL over in Florida was not something he could regularly fit into his schedule, especially having recently become a father for the first time alongside wife Meredith.
Lowry is currently ranked 27th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

Lowry had the honour of hitting the opening shot at TGL.
Woods and McIlroy were on site and they are expected to be in attendance every week of their new league.
McIlroy sat in the crowd as the action played out while Woods jumped on commentary duty in the early stages of the match.
Woods' team, Jupiter Links GC, are in action next week (14 January) against Los Angeles GC, which comprises Collin Morikawa.
McIlroy's team, Boston Common GC, will clash with Woods' side on 27 January.

Lowry, Aberg and Clark pulled off Steph Curry's famous 'Night Night' celebration after sealing a comfortable 9-2 victory on the opening night.
It would appear the first night of TGL split opinion with golf fans on social media.
Many fans enjoyed the fast-paced environment about it all, while also admiring how clever the technology was to change the green so quickly.
Others considered TGL was something of a snooze-fest with little to no banter throughout.
It remains to be seen whether PGA Tour fans continue to give TGL a chance for the remainder of its debut season.
The league runs through to the end of March.
Matches take place at SoFI Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, primarily in prime time on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Six teams each comprising four players make up TGL for 2025.
TGL is in partnership with the PGA Tour.
There are no LIV Golf players in action.
The action is broadcast LIVE on ESPN and ESPN+ for American fans.
Sky Sports Golf has thankfully picked up the action for U.K fans, albeit the coverage is on very late at 2am.
