Nelly Korda says she has unfinished business to take care of at the Solheim Cup

The 2024 edition of the contest starts on Friday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia.

Team USA, spearheaded by World No.1 Korda, are hoping to stop the European side winning the Solheim for a record fourth consecutive time.

For all of her brilliance, Korda, 26, has not experienced success in the biennial tussle yet.

She has a strong overall Solheim Cup record with seven victories from 12 matches an is no doubt determined to improve upon that this week.

"Whenever you get to wear the red, white, and blue and stars and stripes, there's a different meaning to it," Korda told reporters.

"You're playing not just for yourself, but for your captains, for your team-mates and your country, and there's just nothing like it.

"We have got some unfinished business."

Korda tasted defeat at Gleneagles in 2019 and once again at the Inverness Club two years later.

She was pitted against Carlota Ciganda in the Sunday singles last year and lost 2&1 in what proved to be a crucial match.

Ciganda led from the second hole to the 15th before Korda chipped away at her lead.

But the Spaniard's heroics at the 17th proved decisive, draining a birdie putt from close range to earn Europe's final point of the day and retain the Cup.

"Obviously I haven't been on the winning side, but every experience I've had in the Solheim Cups has been an amazing one," Korda added.

Korda has been spotted in practice sessions playing alongside Allisen Corpuz.

Captain Stacy Lewis and her European counterpart Suzann Pettersen will announce their pairings for the first session on Thursday.

Korda said: "I think it's something super-exciting too and refreshing to have a team-mate, have team-mates and captains and people to lean on when you normally don't.

"There's nothing like it. There's nothing like walking on to that first tee and feeling all those nerves. We have a great group of girls.

"We have a great group of guys. We have a great captain. We have really great assistant captains.

"Hopefully it all falls into place and we play some really good golf for the fans out here this week."
