Official: Europe name captain for 2026 Solheim Cup
The European Solheim Cup team will be skippered by Sweden's Anna Nordqvist when the matches head to Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands next year.
Sweden's Anna Nordqvist has been as appointed as the European Solheim Cup captain for the 2026 matches.
Nordqvist has a decorated record in the biennial contest.
The 37-year-old has appeared on the winning team on five occasions and was a playing vice-captain twice.
The 2026 Solheim Cup will be played at Bernardus Golf Club in the Netherlands over 7-13 September.

"I am so honoured to be appointed as the 2026 European Solheim Cup captain," she said.
"Whether we were winning or losing, the Solheim Cup has played such a huge part in my career ever since I made my debut in 2009 in Chicago.
"The friendships I have made, and the memories created during the nine matches I've played, make it so incredibly special to be given the opportunity to be European captain at my tenth Solheim Cup."

The United States ended their seven-year Solheim Cup drought with a hard-fought over 15½-12½ victory over Europe in Virginia last September.
Team USA were led by an inspired performance from Rose Zhang (4-0-0), Nelly Korda (3-1-0), Allisen Corpuz (3-1-0) and Megan Khang (3-0-0).
The first day of the contest was overshadowed by matters away from the course as thousands of fans had to wait hours to get to the host venue because of transportation issues.
Then LPGA Tour commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan issued a public apology, conceding there were not enough shuttle busses to cope with the numbers of fans and there was more traffic than she anticipated.

The European team were skippered by Suzann Pettersen last September.
Her strong leadership style appeared to be divisive and she upset Leona Maguire.
The Irish golfer played a limited role despite being a standout performer for Europe on previous occasions.
Maguire collected 4.5 points for Europe in her Solheim Cup debut in 2021.
After the 2023 Solheim Cup, she had amassed dominant 7-2-1 record having played in all 10 sessions in her first two appearances.
But she featured just twice at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club last September.
