Tom Kim triples famed 17th at TPC Sawgrass then WDs from the Players
PGA Tour star Tom Kim was forced to withdraw during the first round of the flagship $25m Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
Tom Kim was forced to withdraw from the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass because of illness.
The 21-year-old American had only played eight holes of his opening round at the flagship PGA Tour event when he called it a day.
Kim's last hole at the $25m event came at the famed par-3 17th where he recorded a devastating triple bogey after finding the water with his tee shot.
Overall, Kim was 5-over par when the official PGA Tour communications team confirmed Kim had withdrawn.
The post simply read: "Tom Kim WD during the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship due to illness."
His illness is unknown but according to the wife of his caddie Paul Tesori, Kim was feeling unwell on Thursday morning.
Michelle Tesori posted on X that Kim had a temperature that exceeded 102 F.

Kim is now three-time PGA Tour winner who was expected to have a big campaign in 2024.
He has only missed one cut this year, which came at the American Express.
But his results have been lacking as he has only one top-25 finish which came at Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational a few weeks ago.
After the first day of the 2024 Players, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele shared the early lead at 7-under par.
Although the duo played in the morning wave and there were still players that could better their scores.
