Jordan Spieth was reportedly unhappy with Sky Sports' on-course reporter Wayne 'Radar' Riley during the first round of the Players.

At least that is according to the man himself, who told the broadcast on Thursday morning that Spieth 'went berserk at me'.

"These temperamental golfers," uttered Riley during the broadcast in reference to the moment that Spieth was allegedly hot under the collar.

To re-wind a bit, the confrontational moment transpired after Spieth's playing partner, Rory McIlroy, came unstuck on the 18th hole.

McIlroy started on the back nine at TPC Sawgrass and raced out of the blocks, carding four birdies in his opening five holes.

By the time he had reached the 18th hole he was 6-under par but his tee shot found a watery grave.

McIlroy wasn't sure where his ball crossed into the hazard so he held a lengthy discussion with Spieth and Viktor Hovland on the tee box.

In the end, McIlroy opted not to re-load from the tee and played his third shot from where he believed his ball had crossed.

The aforementioned Riley was following the group and believed he had a good idea where McIlroy's ball was lost.

Footage showed Riley pointing, holding his hands up before getting himself out of the way.

Said Riley during the broadcast: "I got asked to say where it crossed and Jordan went berserk at me!

"He said, 'How do you know, Radar? Where were you standing?' All I can do is answer the question. These temperamental golfers!"

From there, McIlroy managed to make a solid bogey five despite having 293 yards to the pin playing his third.

For his part, Riley maintained that he did not seek to get involved but only offered his opinion after he was asked.

"Quite why Jordan Spieth is bringing me in to it I don't really know," he added.
