Tiger Woods spotted on scouting mission in Mexico ahead of PGA Tour event
Tiger Woods was spotted in Mexico scouting the golf course he designed ahead of this week's World Wide Technology Championship on the PGA Tour.
Tiger Woods was spotted on a scouting mission in Mexico ahead of the PGA Tour event making its debut at the course he designed.
The North American circuit heads to El Cardonal at Diamante for the World Wide Technology Championship.
Previously, the tournament was staged at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón at Mayakoba before the rival LIV Golf League swooped to snatch the venue.
It was the first time a course had cut ties with the PGA Tour. The World Wide Technology Championship was staged at Mayakoba for 16 years.
The resort's chief executive told Sports Illustrated in February he hoped hurdles could be navigated so the PGA Tour could return.
Borja Escalada said: "The sooner that we learn how to coexist ... because in the end, I would say it's happening in most sports. There are many different leagues, any different organizations"
El Cardonal at Diamante is the ninth course created by TGR Design. Woods has another hellish course that is in the process of being constructed in the Utah mountains.
"I set up the golf strategy to make golfers think and make choices," Woods previously explained of El Cardonal.
"There are going to be different ways to play every hole. Angles of approach are going to be very important and will dictate the type of shots you should consider. I love this kind of golf."
Woods' scouting mission coincided with the news that his good buddy Justin Thomas has become the first player to sign for a franchise in his golf league TGL.
The 15-time major champion appeared to be limping heavily once again. He had surgery in April after withdrawing from the 47th Masters.
"He's limping so heavily," one wrote. Another added: "Still as jacked as ever."
