Tiger Woods back injury update made as PGA Tour players step up for charity event
PGA Tour players Max Homa and Gary Woodland step in for Tiger Woods at his charity event.
Tiger Woods was noticeably absent from his charity event at Pebble Beach today as PGA Tour players Max Homa and Gary Woodland stepped in for him.
Woods, 48, is currently sidelined from competitive action after having undergone the sixth back surgery of his career last month.
The 15-time major champion had a micro decompression on his spine to relieve pain.
There had been some hope the PGA Tour legend might be able to rock up at his charity event at famed Pebble Beach earlier today, but unfortunately he was unable to make it.
It is believed Woods is still having to rest and recover after his latest back surgery.
PGA Tour players Homa and Woodland were called in to run a clinic for guests.
Given Woods is unable to hit balls during a golf clinic right now, it would suggest his comeback to the PGA Tour is still some way off.
An update of Woods' absence from his charity event was provided by the popular @TWLegion fan account on X / Twitter.
'Doesn’t look like Tiger is in attendance for his charity event at Pebble Beach, likely a sign that his recovery is still in its early stages,' tweeted TWLegion.
'Woods had Max Homa and Gary Woodland running the clinic for guests.'
Woods also underwent ankle surgery in 2023.
That came two years after his horror car crash in Los Angeles.
Woods played in all four majors in 2024 but he missed the cut in three of them and finished dead last in 60th of those that made the cut at The Masters.
After missing the cut in his last start of the year at the 152nd Open at Royal Troon, a deflated Woods admitted he would unlikely be playing again until the PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie Woods in mid-December.
It remains to be seen whether Woods will be good to tee it up with his son in two months' time.
Woods and his Sun Day Red apparel and footwear company opened up a its first 'pop-up shop' at Pebble Beach Golf Links last week.
Sun Day Red posted in a statement:
"A Sun Day Red Pop-Up Shop, a first for us, opening October 11th at Pebble Beach Golf Resort, offering the first opportunity for fans to see, feel and try on our gear in real time. A full inventory of Sun Day Red golf, lifestyle and training apparel and accessories is stocked... The shop also carries a variety of Sun Day Red merchandise with the Pebble Beach logo, which will be available only at the Sun Day Red Pop-Up Shop and not online."

Woods said of his SDR new pop-up store:
"Pebble Beach is very special to me for many reasons. Staying and playing at Pebble is the ultimate premium golf experience, making it the perfect place for our first Sun Day Red Pop-Up Shop. I’m excited to see fans discover and interact with our gear in this setting."
The update from Woods fell during a week where Sun Day Red accused Tigeraire of changing their website in recent months to feature golfers to manufacture an overlap in the marketplace when 'none existed'.
Sun Day Red confirmed 'reluctant' legal action.
