Shane Lowry drilled a volunteer on the left shoulder with an errant tee shot down the par-4 15th in the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

It was thankfully confirmed the course marshal was okay, albeit a little sore.

A number of PGA Tour fans were irate at Lowry's tee shot given there did not appear to be any shout of FORE!

Watch what happned here:

Lowry ended up finishing solo second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The Irishman endured a stumbling start to his final round but he came home in 31 shots to finish two shots behind his good friend Rory McIlroy, who saw out his first PGA Tour title at famed Pebble Beach.

McIlroy finished the week on 21-under par with Lowry two shots back on 19-under par.

England's Justin Rose eagled the last to finish tied third with Lucas Glover on 18-under par.

The victory marked McIlroy's 27th title on the PGA Tour and earned him the small sum of $3.6m.

McIlroy has now gone eight consecutive years with a PGA Tour title to his name.

That is the longest current active streak on the PGA Tour.

After the tournament, Sky Sports Golf's Nick Dougherty asked McIlroy if he felt as though he was at peak Rory McIlroy levels with two months to go until The Masters.

"I'm close, pretty close," replied McIlroy, who just needs to win The Masters in April to complete the career grand slam.

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald greeted McIlroy with a hug as he walked off the back of the 18th green.

Donald will have no doubt been pleased to see three Europeans all in the top three on the leaderboard.
