Scottie Scheffler's coach puts PGA Tour's confirmed YouTube idea on full blast
Scottie Scheffler's putting coach Phil Kenyon labelled the idea to give a YouTube star a place in a PGA Tour field 'a joke'.
You can count Scottie Scheffler's putting coach as not being fully behind the idea to offer a golf YouTuber a sponsor exemption into a PGA Tour event.
On Friday, the North American circuit confirmed one player from a chosen field of 16 will be given a spot into the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic.
The PGA Tour event will take place over 9-12 May but the qualifier for the social media superstars will take place on 4 March.
They will compete in an 18-hole shootout at TPC Myrtle Beach. The PGA Tour event will be staged at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
Scheffler's putting coach Phil Kenyon reacted to the announcement by writing on X: 'JOKE'.
Prominent names in the field include England-based content creator Peter Finch. Finch made his name alongside Rick Shiels.
Finch will be joined by the likes of Micah Morris and Grant Horvat. Barstool Sports' Dan Rapaport is also teeing it up.
Who is in the field?
The field contains eight well-known content creators plus a few Korn Ferry Tour members.
They are:
- Matt Atkins
- George Bryan IV
- Jay Card III
- Morgan Deneen
- Peter Finch
- Grant Horvat
- Luke Kwon
- Micah Morris
- Turk Pettit
- Dan Rapaport
- Scott Stevens
- Nick Stubbe
- Tyler Watts
- Jamie Wilson
- Mason Nut or Cole Lants of "BustaJack Golf"
