Rory McIlroy files for shock divorce with Erica Stoll on eve of US PGA
Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce with wife Erica after seven years together, confirms TMZ Sports.
Rory McIlroy has reportedly filed for divorce with wife Erica Stoll on the eve of this week's US PGA at Valhalla, according to TMZ.
The publication reports they have learned of court documents showing the 26-time PGA Tour winner submitted divorce papers in Florida on Monday.
That was the same day McIlroy, 35, flew home after having won a record fourth Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow on Sunday.

McIlroy decided not to participate in the annual Masters Par-3 Contest this year, and there was no sighting of Erica at Augusta National like there had been in previous years.
News shortly emerged after the Ryder Cup that McIlroy had made plans to move back to the UK 'in a few years' time'.
But those plans have now likely changed off the back of this week's news about McIlroy and Stoll's divorce.
TMZ states: "Reasons for the breakup were not made immediately available. We've reached out to McIlroy's attorney for comment, but so far, no word back yet."
McIlroy and Stoll have been together for seven years and they share a young daughter, Poppy, together.
Poppy was born in 2020.
Rory first met Erica way back at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah.
Erica had been working that week for the PGA of America, the organisers of the Ryder Cup.
Rory credited Erica back then in helping him get a police escort to the golf course after he missed his alarm.
Europe went on to win 14.5-13.5, marking the last time Europe won the Ryder Cup on US soil.
Prior to getting married to Erica in April 2017, McIlroy had been dating tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki but they called off their engagement in 2014.
McIlroy is bidding to win his first major in nearly 10 years at the US PGA this week.
He has good vibes coming into this week having not only won his last two tournaments on the PGA Tour, but he also won the 2014 US PGA at Valhalla.
