Rory McIlroy and wife Erica to move back to UK in few years time
Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica are planning on a permanent move back to the UK, claims Telegraph report.
Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica will reportedly move back to the United Kingdom on a permanent basis, according to a report in the Telegraph.
McIlroy, 34, and Erica, 36, are understood to be set on a relocating with their daughter Poppy to the "London area" in England.
Surrey is said to be the overwhelming favourite, especially after the World No.2 splashed out £200k to become a member at Queenwood in Ottershaw back in 2019.
The permanent move to London for the McIlroy family is not likely to happen for at least another few years.
McIlroy has always retained a property back home in Holywood, Northern Ireland, but he has been primarily based in South Florida in recent years.
That remains most ideal for McIlroy, especially with his new tech-infused TGL starting up with Tiger Woods in Florida in January 2024.
Prior to heading Stateside in 2018, McIlroy was based out in Dubai.
According to the Telegraph's source, "Erica and Rory love London and have decided this is where they see their future in a few years time."
The source added: "They will still have a base in Florida and, although there might be thoughts of scaling back on his schedule a bit by then, the private jet means he will still have the options of playing anywhere and everywhere."
Several years ago, McIlroy was contemplating terminating his DP World Tour card to fully concentrate on his PGA Tour career.
But his wife Erica talked him out of that decision in 2019.
McIlroy said: "She asked me, 'what are you trying to do' and 'what point are you trying to make?'
He soon changed his mind and kept hold of his card to remain playing a global schedule on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
It was seemingly a good decision.
McIlroy will collect a fifth Race to Dubai title at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai this Sunday afternoon.
It marks the second time in his career he has successfully defended the season-long DP World Tour title having also done it in 2015.
