Rory McIlroy admits struggles with 'being best husband'
Rory McIlroy appears to address his divorce U-turn in the latest teaser trailer for season three of the Netflix documentary Full Swing.
Rory McIlroy appears to open up open about his divorce U-turn for the very first time in the latest series of Full Swing.
Netflix uploaded a teaser trailer for season three of the docuseries on 12 February.
Eight new episodes will be uploaded to the streaming platform on 27 February, with McIlroy's emotional roller coaster of a year featuring heavily.
McIlroy endured significant turbulence on and off the course in 2024.
He came agonisingly close to ending his 10-year wait for a major championship victory at the U.S. Open, only to collapse like a pack of cards down the stretch.
The bitter disappointment came a matter of days after it was confirmed that McIlroy had reconciled with wife Erica having filed for a shock divorce a month prior.
Court docs - that were filed immediately after McIlroy grabbed his 26th PGA Tour title at the Wells Fargo Championship - stated their marriage had become 'irretrievably broken'.
"Responding to each rumour is a fool's game," McIlroy previously told the Guardian on the eve of the major at Pinehurst No.2.
"Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."
The Netflix Full Swing season three trailer shows reporters at Pinehurst checking their phones frantically as the news dropped.
"I've struggled with trying to be the best golfer, the best husband, the best dad," McIlroy says in the trailer.

Unsurprisingly, McIlroy has never touched the subject.
The closest he came to doing so was when he choked up at the DP World Tour finale last November.
A tearful McIlroy admitted he had been through a lot after he won the Race to Dubai for the third straight year.
"Their [Erica and daughter Poppy] support means the world to me," he said.
"To be able to show Poppy what happened today and maybe some of the reasons why I'm not around all of the time because I'm working or practicing... it's incredible that they were here with me this week and I'm excited to go and celebrate with them."
Who else features in the latest season of Full Swing?
Here's a list of players that are involved:
- Ludvig Aberg
- Keegan Bradley
- Joel Dahmen
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Wyndham Clark
- Tony Finau
- Rickie Fowler
- Adam Hadwin
- Min Woo Lee
- Minjee Lee
- Shane Lowry
- Justin Rose
- Scottie Scheffler
- Neal Shipley
- Nick Taylor
- Sahith Theegala
- Justin Thomas
- Camilo Villegas
- Gary Woodland
There will be no shortage of drama.
Scottie Scheffler's arrest before the second round of the PGA Championship will almost certainly feature prominently.
Bryson DeChambeau's evolution from antihero to YouTube star and fan-favourite at the majors will also likely make for compelling viewing.
Gary Woodland's health scare is also likely to pull on the heart strings.
Woodland had surgery to remove a lesion on his brain in September 2023 and returned to the game last January.
