Report: PGA Tour hopeful WDs from Q-School to join LIV Golf
According to the Korean Times, Yubin Jang has withdrawn from PGA Tour Q-School to join LIV Golf.
LIV Golf have a new player, according to the Korea Times.
The publication have reported that Yubin Jang, the No.1 ranked player in Korea, has agreed terms with the breakaway tour.
Jang was set to play the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School but he has now withdrawn from the field at TPC Sawgrass.
The official PGA Tour communications team have confirmed his withdrawal, although no reason has been given.
He has not been replaced and his playing partners will now play the 72-hole shootout, without a cut, in a two-ball.
That means the field has now been reduced to 170 players.
Only the top five players and ties earn their Tour cards for next year, with the next 40 players earning starts on the developmental Korn Ferry Tour.
Jang, 22, from South Korea, is ranked 135 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
He topped the KPGA's money list this season, winning twice and posting five runner-up finishes.
It has not been reported which side he is joining, although Kevin Na's Iron Heads appears a likely destination.
Na confirmed earlier in the week that Danny Lee and Jinichiro Kozuma have re-signed. One spot in their side is still vacant.
LIV are also conducting their own version of Q-School this weekend in Saudi Arabi, called LIV Golf Promotions.
You can view the field of those taking in part in Riyadh here.
Notables in the field include LIV stand-in John Catlin, England's Tom Lewis and former one-time European Ryder Cup participant Chris Wood,
Renato Paratore, who was once touted as a hot prospect when he won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in his early 20s, is also in the field after enduring a miserable 2024.
Branden Grace, Kalle Samooja, Hudson Swafford and brothers Kieran and Scott Vincent are also in the field competing for the one spot available after they finished in LIV's relegation zone this season.
