PGA Tour pro goes nuclear (!) over PGA Championship invites

PGA Tour pro Dylan Wu has put the PGA of America on full blast after the full field for the 2024 PGA Championship was confirmed.
The governing body revealed the list of 156 competitors on Tuesday.
There are 16 LIV Golf players in the field and, whilst Wu believes it's great a handful of breakaway tour players have been acknowledged, he believes there are others who are also deserving of spots.
Wu went as far as saying the PGA of America just 'invites who they want'.
The golfer pointed to the fact that there are players are ranked higher in the OWGR than some invitees that have been snubbed.
"Just seems like the world of professional golf is in a weird spot and I love that the tournament invited a handful of great LIV players but figure out a correct system for a major championship where guys know they'll be in or not," Wu wrote.

Why is there never “real” qualifications for the PGA Championship? You have a points list and World ranking invite. Usually just outside top 100 in OWGR gets in. Chan Kim ranked 104th in OWGR doesn’t get in. SH Kim at 107th isn’t in. @NUCLRGOLF @Daniel_Rapaport @PGA https://t.co/8Snkq0l2Vg

Jesper Svennson ranked 108th gets in. Tim Widing 120th gets in. Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald gets a spot. A bunch of guys get leapfrogged even though they’re ranked higher than others. Seems like they just invite whoever they want. Unfair to the guys on the edge like Chan and SH

Wu is no stranger to letting his feelings known on the social media platform.
Earlier in the year he heavily criticised PGA Tour player directors Adam Scott and Webb Simpson for continually accepting sponsor exemptions into signature events.
Scott and Simpson attracted more heat this week after doing the same to get into the Wells Fargo Championship.
Putting Simpson and Scott into his crosshairs, Wu previously said: "Great players and major champions.
"I can’t say much because I missed the cut hard this week, but getting more than one sponsor exemption into elevated events doesn’t seem fair.
“And trust me, they’re both great players that probably deserve it but this new model is all about meritocracy.
"Sponsor exemptions going to the same players every elevated event doesn’t seem to follow the 'play better' saying. Seems like 'be more famous' or 'know the right people.'
The PGA Championship will be played at Valhalla over 16-19 May.
