PGA Tour golfer hits back after being mocked for Navy SEAL training
PGA Tour member Joel Dahmen decided to snap back after he was mocked for taking part in Navy SEAL training to help with his mental toughness.
PGA Tour golfer Joel Dahmen had no time for a keyboard warrior who mocked him for taking part in Navy SEAL training.
Dahmen revealed before last week's Farmers Insurance Open that he was implored to try and improve his mental toughness by his performance coach.
Last November, Dahmen retained his full PGA Tour card in dramatic fashion with an electric Sunday 64 at the RSM Classic.
In the immediate aftermath of that feat, he conceded that he had taken his eye off the ball and wasn't taking his career as seriously as he perhaps should.
Going forward, Dahmen wants to do everything he can to be the best player he can possibly be.
"I'm here to get better at life," Dahmen told Amanda Balionis last week.
"When you think of Navy Seals stuff you think of like crazy, physical stuff.
"But honestly it is more mental than anything."
He added: "We did some water training.
"I’m not Michael Phelps in the pool, that's for sure.
"So, I did, I got better at life for those days. Had Geno [Bonnalie, his caddie] out here by my side as well which was really fun, some kind of more bonding stuff.
"But I don't think I would have got through the fall if I didn't have that training.
"I can dig deeper than I thought I could before and there's more in there, so we're just trying to tap into that more often."

One X user decided to mock Dahmen by saying: "So he went swimming and ran on the beach, tier one badass right there."

I really hope you aren’t sitting in your mom’s basement right now. https://t.co/jNHsF8EuR4

Dahmen had mixed results in 2024 and that trend has continued this year.
He missed cuts at the Sony Open and American Express but rounds of 69-72-70-75 last week saw him finish in the top-10 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Dahmen is not in the field for this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
