Patrick Cantlay reveals new hat sponsor after being axed by Goldman Sachs
Patrick Cantlay, who caused a stir at the Ryder Cup for not wearing a hat, has revealed a new sponsor ahead of his first PGA Tour of 2024.
When Patrick Cantlay went hatless at the 2023 Ryder Cup he didn't want to talk about it.
To the American, the fact he wasn't wearing one throughout the contest in Rome was a complete non-story. Garbage.
It didn't fit, the Team USA caps never have done and he wasn't protesting about players not getting paid for their participation.
In a recent interview with GOLF, Cantlay said if he was protesting then he would make it perfectly clear to everyone.
"If I was to make a protest, everyone would know what I'm protesting, why I'm protesting and how I'm protesting," he explained.
"I would never, never do a silent protest."
Cantlay, 31, will be making his first start of 2024 in Hawaii at The Sentry.
Ahead of teeing it up on Thursday, he has revealed he's finally got a new hat sponsor after he was ditched by Goldman Sachs.
His cap will feature the logo of a cause that his close to his heart: First Responders Children's Foundation.
Cantlay told the Associated Press: "Supporting first responders, their families and the communities they serve is very important to me.
"We look forward to spotlighting the vital contributions of first responders while also tending to the unique challenges that their children and families experience."
The cause is particularly poignant this week given The Sentry is being held 10 miles from Lahaina, where wildfires spread last August.
