Tyrrell Hatton has officially agreed to join the lucrative LIV Golf League for £50m, according to a report.

Per Telegraph Sport, it is said the World No.16 and 2023 European Ryder Cup star will join Jon Rahm's LIV team 'Legion XIII'.

The breakaway tour begins their third campaign this week in Mayakoba, Mexico.

Hatton has been in discussions about leaving the establishment for weeks but it appears he has finally been persuaded to take the risk.

That risk is whether or not Hatton will remain in the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking so he can qualify for the major championships.

Another consideration is whether or not he will retain his eligibility to be selected for next year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York.

According to the report, Hatton has no plans to resign his membership from the DP World Tour.

Rahm has also declared he has no plans to resign his memberships from the DP World and PGA Tour.

But going forward both can expect to be fined by the European-based circuit for competing in conflicting events with tournament releases.

It appears both players are banking on the PGA Tour ratifying the framework agreement with LIV Golf's backers that would end golf's 'civil war'.

Negotiations between the parties ramped up after the Ryder Cup and an agreement is reportedly closer than ever.

Hatton's deal was further complicated by the fact he is signed up to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league, TGL.

At the time of publication his details remain on the official TGL website.

Hatton was also in the field for this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am but is now expected to withdraw from the tournament.

If the report is true and Hatton has decided to leave, it would mark a hugely successful off-season for the breakaway tour.

Although the official announcement is yet to be made, Adrian Meronk has also agreed to join LIV.

Meronk, the DP World Tour's player of the year, is expected to join Martin Kaymer's Cleeks outfit for the 2024 campaign.

The Polish golfer was in the field for the Farmers Insurance Open but withdrew at the last minute. His manager claimed he really was sick.

Elsewhere, Cameron Smith's Ripper are expected to be buoyed by the addition of Lucas Herbert.

The aforementioned Rahm is also expected to have the talented young American, Caleb Surratt, on his team.
