LIV Golf confirms 2025 schedule changes but some players will question Open decision
LIV Golf announces two new events for 2025 with trips to Korea and Indianapolis, but not everyone will be enamored by the positioning of Valderrama in the schedule.
LIV Golf has confirmed a number of big changes to its schedule for 2025, most notably two new events in South Korea and Indianapolis.

The League's decision to once again position tight tree-lined course Valderrama in Spain the week before a blustery links test at Royal Portrush for The 153rd Open will likely not sit well with some players, especially Tyrrell Hatton.
Hatton called into question LIV Golf's decision to be playing at Valderrama the week before The 152nd Open at Royal Troon.
"I guess the one negative with this week is that it's very different to what we're going to face next week at The Open," Hatton told reporters during the staging of LIV Golf Andalucia this July.
"Hopefully down the line, it will be a case of if we're playing a links course the week before, that would be nice."
It will therefore be interesting to see what Hatton and his peers make of LIV Golf's call to once again head back to Valderrama the week before this year's Open in Northern Ireland.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour will once again host their Genesis Scottish Open at links venue The Renaissance Club in North Berwick a week before The 153rd Open.
Not everyone favours playing links courses in the lead up to an Open though, and some even take the week off to recharge the batteries.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler made that particular decision before going on to finish T7 at Troon.
But the majority of players do like to get an early feel for links golf ahead of The Open simply because it's a different proposition to the tree-lined and parkland tests they typically face week in, week out on Tour.
Xander Schauffele played in the Scottish Open earlier this season a week before etching his name on the famous Claret Jug.
But LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman certainly seems happy with the schedule though as he gears up to lead the breakaway league into its fourth season.
LIV Golf's 2025 season will start up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 6-8 February.
The League has now unveiled 10 of its 14 tournaments for 2025 with further announcements to come soon.
The 2025 schedule continues LIV Golf's global nature by visiting eight different countries and four continents in the first 10 events and the United States just three times.
The first five tournaments on the LIV Golf League schedule will be in Asia and Australia.
LIV Golf has confirmed to GolfMagic that full player rosters for 2025 will be confirmed before the end of 2024.
"LIV Golf is growing across the globe in new and returning markets, and our 2025 schedule is a testament to that,” said a beaming Norman.
"Bringing LIV Golf to South Korea is another significant milestone as we continue to expand throughout Asia, and our inaugural event in Indy will be a perfect match for a community steeped in sports history and tradition.
"We’re excited to build on the tremendous success we had last year at new LIV Golf venues in Chicago, Dallas and the UK, where we set new league attendance records and saw dramatic competition on the course.
"And our partnership with Andalucía continues to deliver a memorable experience for players and fans at Valderrama, a one-of-a-kind venue in Spain."

LIV Golf Korea, May 2-4, Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea
Designed by one of the legendary golfers of all time, Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea will welcome LIV Golf’s star-studded field as it continues a tradition of hosting marquee international tournaments. Located in Incheon, a city which borders the country’s capital Seoul, the club previously hosted the 2015 Presidents Cup, the first time the tournament was played in Asia. The event in South Korea marks the League’s fourth Asian stop in 2025, following Riyadh, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
LIV Golf Dallas, June 27-29, Maridoe Golf Club
The 2024 LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club delivered an electrifying finish, with Ripper GC, led by Captain Cameron Smith, emerging as champions. The all-Australian squad will look to repeat their stellar play at Maridoe next June when the League returns for a second consecutive year, this time as part of the regular season schedule that includes both individual and team competition. Designed by Steve Smyers and located just 20 miles from downtown Dallas on the site of the old Columbian Club, the course is considered among the most difficult in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, tipping out at 7,817 yards. LIV Golf Dallas will be the first appearance for 2024 U.S. Open Champion and Dallas-area resident Bryson DeChambeau following his major title defense next year.
LIV Golf Andalucía, July 11-13, Real Club Valderrama
For the third consecutive season, LIV Golf will be staged at the iconic Real Club Valderrama, which famously hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997 and is often considered one of the top golf courses in continental Europe. Captain Sergio Garcia of Fireballs GC will return to Real Club Valderrama to defend his title and his team’s title, as the Fireballs captured their lone team victory of the 2024 season at LIV Golf Andalucía. This victory was significant for Garcia, adding to his impressive resume of wins around the famous course he describes as his favorite in the world.
LIV Golf UK by JCB, July 25-27, JCB Golf and Country Club
Host to capacity crowds all three days, JCB Golf and Country Club will welcome back the League in July for LIV Golf UK by JCB. The inaugural edition delivered a can’t-miss event for fans throughout the UK and marked the first LIV Golf individual victory for Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm, who defeated teammate Tyrrell Hatton, Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann and Ripper GC Captain Cameron Smith by just a single stroke. Rahm’s Legion XIII expansion team also claimed its League-best fourth tournament title of the season at JCB, and they’ll have their sights set on a repeat performance in 2025.
LIV Golf Chicago, August 8-10, Bolingbrook Golf Club
Next August will mark LIV Golf’s fourth consecutive year visiting Chicago and second season competing at Bolingbrook Golf Club, site of LIV Golf’s 2024 Individual Championship. Rated as one of the top public courses in Illinois, Bolingbrook registered a LIV Golf single-day attendance record for U.S. events in its first year with LIV Golf. The Chicago crowds witnessed Jon Rahm secure his second tournament win in three starts to claim the 2024 season-long individual title in a tense duel with Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann.
LIV Golf Indianapolis, August 15-17, The Club at Chatham Hills
The League’s 2025 Individual Championship will take place August 15-17 at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana. The season’s final individual event will feature players battling for the coveted title of 2025 LIV Golf League Individual Champion and securing Lock Zone positions for 2026. The trip to Indy will also be the last chance for players to earn points and avoid relegation while team seedings for the 2025 Team Championship will be determined. Chatham Hills' renowned Championship course, the final design by legendary architect Pete Dye, will offer a challenging test for the Individual Championship.
