Golf fans react to shock Anthony Kim update
Golf fans react as Anthony Kim who does something he's not done in more than 12 years in Qatar.
Anthony Kim has made his first professional cut in more than 12 years after carding rounds of 71 and 72 at the International Series Qatar.
Kim's made cut at this week’s Asian Tour event at Doha GC marks his first since the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in 2012.
The 39-year-old American, who represented a victorious United States side at the 2008 Ryder Cup, found himself at 1-under par and just inside the cut mark of level par on Friday.
Kim then followed things up in Saturday's third round with a 1-over 73 to bump him back to level par heading into the final round on Sunday.
He is well off the pace on the leaderboard with his compatriot Peter Uihlein leading the way as it stands.
Here's how golf fans have reacted on social media to news of AK making his first cut on Tour since 2012:
Great work AK keep it going
This is just the start for AK
This is an amazing story, he'sgetting better and still has his elite short game
Still can't break 70 even in an Asian Tour event
Don't rule Anthony Kim out just yet
Still way off where he was but it's progress
Let's not get carried away here, he made the cut in an Asian Tour event and is some 12 shots behind
When he starts picking up top-10s I'll get excited but not yet
One top 40 in 11 starts on LIV in 2024, he can't surely be taken seriously anymore?
Let's go AK love to see it
LIV Golf would be mad to lose him
AK working his butt off this off-season
Always been a great putter
When Kim was pressed by reporters for comment earlier this week about what will make for a successful 2025 campaign, he replied: "Contending on Sundays."
He added: "I know a lot of people have probably seen my last year and don't think that's possible, but I think it's going to happen. I 100% believe in myself, and I think it's just a matter of time."
Kim, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour between 2008 and 2010, did not exactly tear it up in his debut season on LIV Golf.
He had just one top-40 finish in 11 starts.
But Kim appears to be working very hard during the LIV Golf off-season and even Tiger Woods' former long-time coach Hank Haney likes what he sees with the American's swing right now.
'This is a great golf swing, keep it up,' Haney tweeted after watching a number of videos Kim posted to X / Twitter.
Reports indicate Kim will return to LIV Golf for the 2025 campaign.
But Kim confirmed earlier this week that an official decision has not yet been made by those above at LIV Golf.
A decision should be made over the next few weeks.
"I don't know what's going on," Kim told reporters when asked about his future.
"I'll just let whatever news come out from LIV Golf."
Kim played the entirety of the 2024 campaign as one of two wildcards.
Whether Kim joins a team for 2025 remains to be seen.
Some reports have suggested wildcards could be scrapped for good.
