$80m LIV Golf signing reveals PGA Tour events he misses most
Joaquin Niemann has reiterated his desire to play at least four events on the PGA Tour alongside his LIV Golf schedule.
LIV Golf's Joaquin Niemann has revealed which PGA Tour events he would play in if he wasn't banned.
Niemann opened up on the subject in an interview with Fox Sports Australia ahead of the ISPS Handa Australian Open.
The Chilean, 26, was among the first wave of golfers to join the breakaway tour in 2022 for a deal worth a reported $80m.
He was a rising star on the PGA Tour when he chose to jump ship, even winning at Riviera.
So it comes as absolutely no surprise that he would love to tee it up in the Genesis Invitational again, hosted by Tiger Woods.
"To be honest, I don't think there's many people that would want to play all over the world," he told the publication.
"They just want to play on LIV and that's it, and there's a few guys who probably just want to play on the PGA Tour and that's it.
"For me, if I don't play on the PGA Tour, I don't think it would really hurt me a lot but I would like to play more."
He added: "Ideally it would be awesome to play PGA Tour events.
"As captain of my team, Torque, I am playing LIV Golf and I would love to play those 14 events as well as a few events I love from the PGA Tour.
"I love Riviera, The Players and if I could pick three or four events from the PGA Tour and play those, and then a few others on the DP World Tour, I would love to.”
"Playing on LIV Golf and having the DP World Tour around – I played the Rolex series for the first time – was awesome, and if I can play those plus a few other events and the majors, I am happy."
Niemann's comments come as a U.S. hedge fund manager involved in the PGA Tour-PIF talks claimed a deal is likely to be agreed the two rival tours.
It's been 18 months since the framework agreement was announced.
Steve Cohen, owner of the New York Mets, said there are still 'a lot of moving parts' but they'll get the agreement over the line.
"The goal is to reunite all the players," he said.
"It's fragmented right now. Getting to play in one tournament, one venue, whatever it is, is exciting."
